There will extensive opportunity for interactive discussions focussed around three sessions on:
HOW NOT TO MAKE DECISIONS WITH COMPUTER SIMULATIONS
Keynote speaker: Roman Frigg (London School of Economics, UK)
DYNAMICS MODEL VALIDATION
Keynote speaker: Eann Patterson (University of Liverpool, UK)
DESIGNING WITH HIGH FIDELITY SIMULATIONS
Keynote speaker: Kristina Shea (ETH Zurich)
There will be other speakers and panellists from the aerospace and nuclear industries. One focus for discussion will the adoption and expansion of a methodology for validation within the European industrial and scientific communities. An methodology for validation has been proposed by CEN WS71 and is open for comment at http://www.cen.eu/work/areas/Materials/Pages/WS-71.aspx.
Workshop Chair: Dr Erwin Hack , EMPA Switzerland. The workshop is supported by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement no. 319116, VANESSA (Validation of Numerical Engineering Simulations: Standardisation Actions).
